Class Reflection

Class Reflection
  • 1.        What did you like the best about this class?
  • What I liked about this class was the people I sat next to and the amazing conversations we had. Many of us have a lot in common and have the same experiences. Above all, I made good friends. But, one is leaving off to college and I wish him the best.  I also liked the tech time it gave me an opportunity to research the things I needed and essays that needed to be typed.

  • 2.      What did you dislike about this class?
  • What I disliked about this class was how quite it was. Ever since I was little I cannot stand quiet places along with the redundant posts about research.

  • 3.      What can you recommend to improve the class?
  • I recommend more artistic and creative ways to do research along with more talking from the teacher.

  • 4.      What will you always remember about this class?
  • I will always remember to THE SAYING choose the right and the student success statements.

“Obedience is the test of life”
-         Thomas S. Monson

Reflection:  Obedience goes a long way. Actions go a long way. In today’s society, everyone is for themselves and tension build up which leads to disobedience. In life you face many hardships and tests but the one of the greatest ones is obedience. With temptation, everything becomes real and many act in a negative action. But the greatest test you will ever receive is survival.

“Obedience… is the primary object of all sound education”
-         Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection: As we grow, enter school and change, we are taught to obey authority and obey what is believed as right. We are taught to be mimics of society and obey every single thing. Of course, we need authority and of course some people either abuse it or act inappropriately to it. But, from what I experienced and have seen, even our own authority that tells us to obey, does not obey the power of the people. I believe that a child should be taught to obey what is sane and right, not what is scripted and corrupt.

“Obedience sums up our entire duty”
-Hosea Ballou

Student reflection: Obedience is greater than its interpretation. Obedience is a word of life and morals. Obedience is not our duty, but what to obey is our responsibility. Our duty is on earth is to behave and help the world with positive morals Not mass destruction and war. Sometimes those who you are obeying are the ones who do not own up to their obedience. Not everyone that obeys is good.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”
-         Sophocles
Reflection:

Success is the case of many failures, with that in mind, I emphasize that many successful stories, were filled with dirt and cheating. Failing with honor is beyond of the greatest things any human can do. Why, because in our human nature, we are filled with greed, corruption and negligence. To win by cheating is a greater lie that to cheat on a test. To lose with honor, shows dignity and shows responsibility.

“You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you”
-         Jim Rohn

Reflection:  What this quote adheres is the symbolic message of doing it for yourself and not having anyone do it for you as everyone at one point has herd. In life, things you wish to achieve must be done by you and only you. You can receive guidance and help, but in reality no one can do it for you.  Nothing will ever be accomplished if you always make excuses or hire someone else. With that in general, if you don’t build your dreams, another person will hire you to build theirs and that relates to this quote. No one can do anything for you just as no one can die for you.

“Right is right, even if everyone is for it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it”
-William Penn

Reflection: Everyone has their own vision of right. Everyone has their own vision of wrong. We cannot simply agree but launch debate.  In today’s world what is “right” is controlled by society, media or the government. Now, what is right? The government says “It is right for us to start a war for our benefits” but “It’s wrong for another country to start a war for their benefits” the topic is simply contradictory. Our vision of rightness is controlled and babbled by everyone except US. When we as human binges should think for ourselves and not just know what is right but to feel the right embrace in our soul. Those who do not let anyone or interfere in their right believes, are the ones who choose what’s right.

‘Right is right only when entire”
-          Victor Hugo

Student Reflection:  Right, what is right? Do we have the slightest idea of what is right? The whole world always says the “Right” things or to do the right things but have they done the right things? WAR, MONEY, MURDER? All these things all right? Of course not, but who are we to believe? We are the ones to do Right, we are right, just our actions need to be clearer and better.

“That which we persist in doing become easier to do, not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do has increased”
-         Ralph Waldo Emerson
Student reflection:

Over time, we develop strategies and ideas to fulfill certain goals or plans. Our hard work makes it possible for our dreams to become doable and easy. It is “not the nature of the thing” which is or could be what you are trying to create, but the fact that every day you try and get a little closer is what brings you closer.

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined”
-         Henry David Theorem

Reflection: We often dream that will succeed. We often dream of land with peace. We often get lost in our dreams that we do not turn those dreams into a reality. It’s like we are in a coma, and it’s hard to wake and to face the reality, the truth. Dreams are our escape and our reason to keep going but we ask ourselves, “Why? Why can’t our dreams come true?” and the truth, is that we either don’t work hard enough, or we are distracted by other realities and responsibilities or our dreams are simply meant to be but it does not mean we aren't meant to be happy. It comes with time.

Student Success Statement

The answers to these questions will determine your success or failure:
1.        Can people trust me to do what’s right? yes
2.       Am I committed to doing my very best? yes
3.      Do I treat people the way I want to be treated? Yes
“If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail”
-         Lou Holtz

Reflection:  Trust has become just a word over past few years leading trust to slowly die. It seems you cannot trust anyone anymore. But, it’s those who chose to stop their needy and greedy needs to be different who deserves to be trusted. Trusting someone to do what’s right is not only doing what the mass population wants you to do, but doing what helps and what people feel is right within themselves. Of course, you have to be committed! But, even if you are committed, things can happen but the people who keep going and remain committed are the ones who are truly committed. Humanity, a complex subject, we treat others nicely but what others treat us? Of course, some people will always hate you, but I want different even if at times it seems unacceptable. There are other factors that lead to success than just these factors. People tend to view success as how much money you have or how many people you know, but success can be those little things like overcoming drug use, being a cancer survivor, raising 3 kids on your own, or even going from drop out to Harvard graduate.

Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement:
“No Student ever attains eminent success by simply doing what is required of him/her; it is the amount of excellence of what is over and above required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction”
-         Charles Kendall Adams. American Historian

Reflection:  We often see those with low grades or not enough grades at the ones to be unsuccessful and no one in the future and often praise those with good grades and nasty attitudes. Of course, those with good grades are knowledgeable or some just cheat off but what about those who work hard and keep their determination? It’s not about having all the A’s and B’s in the world, of course that is every students dream to maintain a 4.0 GPA  but it’s about the work and stress that’s put in to it. For example: A man can have a college degree but could be very greedy and another man could have had the worst grades in history but managed to learn and proceed with life. We often misunderstand those “underdogs” and don’t really see what could be. Those who are least expected are the ones that succeed.

Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself”
-Henry Ward Beecher

Student Reflection:  We undergo a series of tests. Often to determine who we are. Math tests for example, if you get most of them wrong you either didn't study or don’t understand correctly than, when you receive the text back, a big fat zero. It doesn't matter what people think of you or expect from you, it’s what you expect from yourself and who you hold yourself to be. A test can show how much you know but can’t really see who you are and what you think, it can only give an idea.  Of course, if you passed you must have worked hard or cheated but after your seen at a higher level. You must praise yourself even for the littlest efforts and achievements; you must live up your name, regardless of what you have done. Never look down on your name never blame anyone who what has happened. Instead, change what could be.

Progress Report

Progress Report

Which goals have I accomplished? The big goal that I have accomplished is not a material thing. It’s not a school academic achievement. It’s not anything at all in others eyes. But to me, it’s a life goal. The biggest goal I have accomplished so far is pulling through all the negative boundaries that I have come face to face with; I accomplished helping my mom out in this dark period of time. I have accomplished coping with my health. I have accomplished walking without feeling sorry for myself. Sadly, it’s often overlooked. In order for someone to reach their goals, they have to be happy and healthy within themselves and I am ready to accomplish more because all I ever wanted was to accomplish what I set myself to be, no matter how difficult and severe times get.

“Set your goals high, and don’t stop till you get there”
-Bo Jackson

Student reflection:  Goals are set and followed in any altitude or direction however, how you chase them is another story.  What this quote is implying is, set your goals higher than your dreams; chase them faster than lighting and most of all to never stop, Along with the hidden message of not letting anyone become a barrier in the way of reaching those dreams.
