Part 3

Part 3.

“Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy”
-         David A. Bednar

Reflection: This statement is very controversial and can be read and felt in different ways throughout many points of view. Obedience cannot be the way to happiness. Many people, who obey, are afraid of the dominating power and only obey because they fear the dominating power. The only happiness that is gained is the happiness the dominating power receives.  Obedience can lead to many things but the word and act itself is manipulated by man into an evil doing leaving the meaning to fade away from the word. Obedience is never good when a evil authority says it is. It never will be.

Part 2-4 Final

Progress Post

I have more than 200 goals written in my notebook and it’s been quite difficult completing some,   but I am committed and been reading them every day.  Many of my goals are long term and I want to achieve them all.  I want all the people who said I was a loser to see how great I can be and see my success.  I am smarter than what people accept me to be, way brighter than what I seem, and way more different than what people think. I am just me and I will succeed. I will have my own coffee shop. I will be a bestselling author. I will have a nice house and my mom will have a nice house and everything will turn out just fine. My life will be a positive adventure.

“Obedience is the test of life”
-         Thomas S. Monson

Reflection:  Obedience goes a long way. Actions go a long way. In today’s society, everyone is for themselves and tension build up which leads to disobedience. In life you face many hardships and tests but the one of the greatest ones is obedience. With temptation, everything becomes real and many act in a negative action. But the greatest test you will ever receive is survival.

“Obedience… is the primary object of all sound education”
-         Elizabeth Missing Sewell

Reflection: As we grow, enter school and change, we are taught to obey authority and obey what is believed as right. We are taught to be mimics of society and obey every single thing. Of course, we need authority and of course some people either abuse it or act inappropriately to it. But, from what I experienced and have seen, even our own authority that tells us to obey, does not obey the power of the people. I believe that a child should be taught to obey what is sane and right, not what is scripted and corrupt.

Obedience

Obedience

The complete definition of obedience according to Miriam Webster and the human population of the internet is “Compliance with an order, request, law or another’s authority” along with being a monastic rule.  The synonyms include compliance, conformity, submission, and subordination.  An example of obedience would be in the scenario of a boss asking you to fulfill a number as tasks and you perform them to the best of your ability.

“You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you”
-         Jim Rohn

Reflection:  What this quote adheres is the symbolic message of doing it for yourself and not having anyone do it for you as everyone at one point has herd. In life, things you wish to achieve must be done by you and only you. You can receive guidance and help, but in reality no one can do it for you.  Nothing will ever be accomplished if you always make excuses or hire someone else. With that in general, if you don’t build your dreams, another person will hire you to build theirs and that relates to this quote. No one can do anything for you just as no one can die for you.

The answers to these questions will determine your success or failure:
1.        Can people trust me to do what’s right? yes
2.       Am I committed to doing my very best? yes
3.      Do I treat people the way I want to be treated? Yes
“If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail”
-         Lou Holtz

Reflection:  Trust has become just a word over past few years leading trust to slowly die. It seems you cannot trust anyone anymore. But, it’s those who chose to stop their needy and greedy needs to be different who deserves to be trusted. Trusting someone to do what’s right is not only doing what the mass population wants you to do, but doing what helps and what people feel is right within themselves. Of course, you have to be committed! But, even if you are committed, things can happen but the people who keep going and remain committed are the ones who are truly committed. Humanity, a complex subject, we treat others nicely but what others treat us? Of course, some people will always hate you, but I want different even if at times it seems unacceptable. There are other factors that lead to success than just these factors. People tend to view success as how much money you have or how many people you know, but success can be those little things like overcoming drug use, being a cancer survivor, raising 3 kids on your own, or even going from drop out to Harvard graduate.
