Integrity

Integrity

In class, we watched a video about the 16th president Abraham Lincoln and his temptations with whiskey and tobacco. Along a ride with his coachmen he is asked if he would like to take a drink of whiskey with his coachmen and president Lincoln declined. Later, Lincoln is asked to take a smoke with his coachman and he says yes but tells the coachmen a story of when he was a young boy. Back when he was 9 years old his mother was very ill and would not get well. He stood by his mother’s deathbed as she asked him to promise him to never use whiskey or tobacco. He promised and as he told the coachmen, the coachmen gave him honor for keeping his promise. This relates to many people but with deep disappointment, not many carry or are taught they value of integrity.  Integrity is doing what is right when no one is watching and doing whats right when everyone is watching. It's complete honesty and honor.  It's not what you commit but how you act upon it, its not what you see but how you look at it, and its not how your life is but how you live and change the world,
