Industrial Hygienist


Industrial Hygienist
Duties and Responsibilities:  Industrial Hygienist’s examine or sometimes study health hazards, conduct health risks assessments, manage industrial or business health programs, and give consultations. They could also be administrators, researchers, consultants or teachers.  Industrial Hygienist’s often:
  • ·         Collect samples of and study these samples in a laboratory.
  • ·         Check exposure to radiation,  vibration and noise
  • ·         Put equipment together
  • ·         Investigate possible or not possible health hazards
  • ·         Instruct workers on injury and prevention
  • ·         Conduct epidemiological study
  •  



Salary:  40,000-60,000
 Education:  Students in high school should take the most challenging courses available in order to prep them for future academic’s needed to become an Industrial Hygienist. 
 In college, you will need at least a minimum of Bachelor degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health engineering, or physical science. One could have a Master’s Degree but they need to be certified by the American Board of Industrial hygiene examination.

Reflection:  I don’t think it would excite me, but if I look into this field more I could consider becoming an Industrial Hygienist.
